Follow up to I, Claudius, this volume details his reign (41-54 A.D.) a welcome change from the chaos/bloody days of Caligula. Claudius worked to repair roads and accomplish other public improvements. He had a census conducted, and was always interested in maintaining the ability to feed some 6 million Roman citizens. Includes the conquest of Britain. Like many other leaders of the era, he was murdered by his family.
