My copy of this book is in like new condition, excepting the dust jacket which shows some wear, with all necessary forms and state by state instructions as to how to expunge an arrest record. The cover reads: "Detailed instructions show how to take advantage of recent legislation - inexpensively and without a lawyer's help - and have an arrest record taken off the books. Introduction by Aryeh Neier, Former Executive Director, American Civil Liberties Union." The back cover reads in part: "Have you ever been arrested? Many millions of Americans would have to answer "Yes" to this question. But these statistics do not show how arrest records grow into paper prisons - for, when a person is arrested, at least five separate records are created, on levels such as city, county, state and federal. Those caught in the paper prisons are thereby stigmatized for life, with their standing in the community affected. They will encounter problems throughout life, in obtaining licenses, loans, civil service, and - most difficult - in seeking employment. Clean Slate provides up-to-date, expert help on sealing, annulling, or expunging your arrest record, plus much other valuable information on the rights accorded you as a citizen by the laws of the land. Plus, Clean Slate advances compelling arguments for a complete revision of records keeping and a subsequent changing of the American legal system." My book was published in 1979 so it is probably not up to date in every regard, but this big, important book will cost you only one credit and get you started, if not taken all the way through, the process of expunging your arrest record. If you find you need some particular current info your local library can give you what you need, at no cost either.
