What if --- the President has decided to get serious about the war on drugs? What if --- he used the military to not only stop the illegal transport of drugs, but to STOP the manufactureing!

Jack Ryan is NOT the hero this time!

This is the fourth installment in the Jack Ryan series. Jack moves into new and more dangerous territory as he rises up the chain of the CIA's command structure. This book places Jack in a more political role, unlike his "hero" role in "The Hunt for Red October", "Patriot Games", and "The Cardinal of the Kremlin". He helps guide the story along, but his primary role is to cover the "Buttocal areas" of his leaders.

The re-introduction of John clark (a minor character in "Cardinal of the Kremlin"), adds to the human element of the story.

This is an action packed novel, and as always, Clancy never seems to go more than a couple of minutes without spicing up the dialog. Again, be forwarned of his style of using "strong"language at times.

I give it some good marks, and I think you will enjoy the listen, whether you have read his other novels or not.
