I am going to be traveling for a few days, but I would prefer to NOT put my shelf on Vacation Hold. I will have internet access, so would probably just wait until almost the end of the 5 days to accept the request. My question is, if I click "I can mail later" how long do I have. (I KNOW I won't be able to mail within 2 days, but probably within 5 days of accepting the request.

For example, if I get a request on a Saturday, and accept it on a Wednesday, I'd probably be able to mail it by the Monday after the weekend -- a grand total of 9 days from when I got the request. Has anyone done this and will the timing work out on the system?

I usually accept within a day and then mail that day or the following, so clicking I can mail later is new to me.

Thanks!

It'll give you usually 3-5 days. Just choose the later date & it'll tell you what day it has to be sent by.

What determines how many days you get? I always used to get 5 days. I'm noticing lately I only get 4. Was there a change I don't know about?

are you may not picking the last date?  I just accepted an order this morning that said I must mark it mailed by 8/21 which is 7 days (5 days plus the 48 hours before it is cancelled)

Yes, I just accepted an order this morning and said I would mail it by Tuesday but it will not be cancelled until Thursday (8/21) (same as Leslie). So Carolyn, if you are just travelling for a few days, you should be okay.

Thanks, all! That's great. If necessary, I'll just wait until the last day to accept, then pick "I Can Mail Later" and then choose the latest date.

Just a suggestion: I would put in my profile what you're doing. Some people get really upset when their requests aren't accepted quickly then they cancel or find someone else to order from them.  If you just put in your profile that you're OOT unti x date but checking your account so if a book request is going unanswered you are just giving yourself some extra mail by days.

If a Requester cancels a book and just requests the same listing again it'll go straight to the same Sender since they're still at the top of the FIFO.  The Requester would have to find the title on someone else's actual shelf to find a different Sender.
