When a book is not available, there is a link to buy at Amazon. According to the HELP documents, PBS gets a small reimbursement for purchases made this way. Does anyone know if that just applies to the book you click through on, or total purchases made in the visit? I've just been a member for a couple of months and love PBS - I'd happy to do anything that helps keep this site free and successful. I clicked through yesterday to buy a book and also bought an iron from them (amazing all the stuff you can get at Amazon at a great price with no shipping and sales !) If this is a way to help out PBS, everybody should be aware of it. If you are going to buy a book at Amazon, make sure you get there from here. |

I'm not certain, but I think since it is a referral-type compensation that PBS gets a portion of the total invoice from the visit, not just the book since you wouldn't have been there except for clicking on the link in the first place... (I hope so anyway!) |

Might be a question to send to TPTB.. I too would click through to get books that way if I knew that everything I bought helped. |

Yeah, it is everything that you buy, provided the things that you buy are sold by Amazon, not a third party. If you'd like to read more about it, go to Amazon, click Help, and scroll down and find the link to the Associate program. I've worked on other websites that provided a link from their site to Amazon to earn money through this program. For them, it was a general link to Amazon, not to a specific product, but it works the same way. |

From now on if I decide to buy from Amazon I sure will click through here. At one time I was a heavy duty book buyer there, now I'm here...lol. |

According to the HELP documents, PBS gets a small reimbursement for purchases made this way. Thanks for this - I didnt know! I still buy from amazon sometimes so I will have to put this to use. I always wondered why that option was there, now it makes sense. |
