At the core of this method are medicinal foods and The Plateau-proof Diet. Among the medicinal foods are herbs and spices that directly cause weight loss, and many others that maintain and/or improve certain vital aspects of health and wellness. Medicinal foods are a very important component of this weight loss system because they either affect weight loss directly, or they improve the physiological deficiencies that make weight loss difficult or impossible. Physiological deficiencies such as very early stage (pre-disease) glu¬cose intolerance, for example, tend to complicate weight loss while favoring weight gain. These deficiencies can easily be reversed by the proper use of medicinal foods. We there¬fore cannot overemphasize the important role of medicinal foods in a rapid and sustainable weight loss. The Plateau-proof diet is a rotation diet that is designed to prevent the dreaded weight loss plateau. Drawing from the research of several hundred scientists from across the world, this diet uses two formulas to assign numbers (a Carb/Protein and a Fat/Protein index) to all foods. Basically, there is a rotation between low-carb (standardized to protein) and low-fat (standardized to protein). Without standardizing to the right type of proteins, weight loss would be unpredictable, slow in most people, and easily reversible in almost all people. The main culprit responsible for the rapid weight gain after weight loss is the human growth hormone (more appropriately the lack thereof). The human growth hormone is respon¬sible for maintaining leanness in the adult human. The secretion of this hormone is sup¬pressed or inhibited upon weight gain, while the secretion of its antagonist (human growth hormone binding peptide) is increased. If this deficient hormonal axis is not reversed in the course of weight loss, the subject will invariably regain weight. The Plateau-proof Diet uses protein standardization to reverse the deficiency in human growth hormone, and therefore to prevent the weight loss plateau and the subsequent weight gain. There is no doubt that a relatively healthy subject will lose weight easier and maintain leanness, which is why Clinique Science Weight Loss is designed to improve health while affecting a rapid and sustainable weight loss. This method is relatively easy to follow and is inexpensive. The system does not require counting, calculations, extensive planning, and other vexations that one would expect from a science-based weight loss program. Also, The Plateau-proof Diet is not very restricting since it is a rotation diet. Since the Clinique Science Weight Loss system starts affecting vital physiological param¬eters from day one, potential users are advised to talk with their physician prior to starting. Some basic screening will be done that will help individuals to derive the most benefit out of the system. The screening will include: total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cho¬lesterol, triglycerides, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), and waist-to-hip ratio. This screening will allow individuals to emphasize certain medicinal foods to correct applicable deficiencies while they lose weight.
