Large closing sale starts Friday, July 22, 2011, up to 40% off.  Sad to see the closing of my neighborhood store.

Our local store closed in early April, but a good friend has been doing online business with them. She's going to be very disappointed. Neither of us likes B&N, but I do a lot of business with Amazon but she's afraid to try them.

It's sad to see an old friend like Borders going away for good.

It is sad. The books will be 10% for awhile and then increase to 20% in a few weeks and the percentage will go up as the weeks pass.

We went last night and the checkout line wound around the whole store.  The mysteries, fiction, and literature were only 10% off, so there were not many takers yet.  There were many other books and gifts for 30 & 40% off.  I only bought some beautiful Papyrus greeting cards for 40% off.  But I will keep checking.

the romance section is 30% off and includes paranormal as well as romantic suspence. Not good enough for me to buy though. I have too many books as it is. I was disappointed at the 10 % on mysteries but I found some books on my WL on the bargain area and that was 20 % off the bargain price so about $3 for trade size.

I went to two different ones. I got  few new releases that I had to have. A few months ago I went to Borders that closed eariler. It a few days before closing everything was about 80% off. It will take a few weeks to get the real bargains but the selection will not be there. Border Reward cards are good to Aug 5th.

I don't even know if we have a Borders around here, I've never been to one. Wishing you all happy shopping...I shall enjoy vicariously through you all.

Me, I'm still in 'lose the TBR' mode....down 260 books now since February! Was in Half Price Books not once but TWICE in the past few weeks (selling books) and wasn't even tempted to buy anything. I need to do a shelf consolidation this weekend, got several with big gaps and lots of books leaning over. :)

Can't say I am sad to see them go, considering the fine independent booksellers, mom 'n pop shops, book-loving stores, that they put out of business over the years.  Also the damage they helped do to the industry; them and B&N and :::shudder::: Walmart.

Crash and burn, Borders, we shall miss ye NOT.
