As most know since MAy 2011 I been looking for a Cheap Tablet that would do what I want.  I tried Craig....never figured it out & never found English instruction!  Returned it!    Then I tried Sylvania...  Also was a major flop!  The instructions & what it could do trurned out to be False once they went from 2.1 OS to 2.2 OS...so again returned it ugh!

About a month ago I decided to order the Coby mid7012-4 less than $100 thru Amazon.  So far so good!  I can Read, Play Games, Watch Movies & go on the Web!  & I can even for $15 get a case with a Keyboard [next purchase LOL]

I have found that to read & keep my eBooks/Audiobooks to read or listen to when WiFi is Off Best to have the  books on SDCard!  This Coby takes up to 32 gig micro SDCard!  I have a 16 & 8 gigs...so I in business!

I also discovered that while it plays Most movies great Netflix movies dont work!  It came with the Netflix app & while I can browse the movies they offer I cant watch them.  Voice gets ahead of the picture the picture moves in slowww mode  UGH!  Hulu+ dont work with it at all!  Neither does Amazon Prime movies ugh!    Movies DO play YouTube CBS & those I own & put on SDCard or Flash drive!  I am sure there are more but those are the ones I tried so far!  Any you would like to suggest more would be great!

You can get apps from GetJar or Amazon But Not from Marketplace!

Well I just wanted folks to know there are choices of Tablets that work great for $100.    You may want to consider this [or another Tablet]  Instead of a Kindle or Nook product!  This Tablet CAN get eBook Apps from those sites as well as tons of others!  You are Not locked into buying eBooks from 1 site!   It comes with a AudioBook app for Tons of FREE audios.

Got the Keyboard/Case yesterday!  Works GREAT!  BUT....the case is huge!  The clips to hold the 7inch Coby in Does Not even come close to touching the Tablet!  I have to use a Rubberband to hold the Tablet in place!  I LOVE the Keyboard!  Was No problem geting it to work!  Just dont forget to go into the Coby setting>under Keyboard>turn OFF the popup keyboard!  The Keys are stick on paper [looks like]  so not sure how long they will last.  But at least they are Big!  I dont know If there is a cover the keep the keys clean & from normal wear.  But IF you find something let me know!  The case its self it rather nice with a built in stand.

I'm glad you got it to work. I consider my netbook to be a sort of tablet with keyboard lol. The only thing is, of course, that it's not a touch screen. But since I'd rather type on a keyboard anyday, it doesn't really matter. It's not like I want to do a bunch of typing while laying in bed.

True, not portable enough for reading as an ereader or a tablet is.  I like my Nook Color but to me, e-ink is the best for reading. Of course no ipad or galaxy here, but I still think tablets are more toys than computer or ereader.

Anne you are Right!  e-ink IS best esp for outdoor reading!  I dont normaly read outside....so I was planning on selling my Kindle.  Just found out last week Kevin going to be going on different jobs to see IF rehab can find one he can do.  since he cant drive I going to have to get him to the job sites & come back for him ugh!!  Some of the jobs are only going to last about an hour!!  So instead of comming back for him I be reading in the van waiting for him gggrrrrr   CANT do that on the Coby!  Not just the glare I cant see the page looks like it just a black screen no words!  sheesh   So for now I am keeping my Kindle...

I think that is a good idea, Barb. You can't go wrong keeping both of them.

I wouldn't get Prime just for the movies. We have it for the free shipping.

I dont purchase that much from Amazon.  Movies thru Amazon come to $6.58 per month...Netflix is $8 per month LOL  Netflix sucks everytime I want to watch a movie it only on DVD...thats an extra $8 per month!!  I can rent movies & buy them from amazon with or without prime.   But prime even has the rentals cheeper IF your a member.

Hmmm...well my kids stream stuff from Netflix daily....my DH does too. I used to. We def. get our $8 a month from that. I recently got the 1 disc at a time also, b/c they took all the ScoobyDoo off of instant. The instant catalog changes a lot, so if you see something disc only, keep checking back. At one point, and for a long time, all the Scooby Doo titles could be streamed. Now I don't think any can. They'll be back on again.

The kids have streamed a few instant videos from Amazon. But their selection pretty much sucks. I did buy (using a video credit) a Scooby Doo movie via Amazon video. But that's really not something I plan to do, like, ever. Haven't tried renting them, I will have to check into that. If it turns out cheaper than getting the disc from Netflix, then I can drop that again.

Ok just looked, and I don't think renting a digital file for a limited time is cheaper than getting the disc from Netflix. If I average four discs a month for the $8, that's cheaper than what Amazon rents them for.  And the kids can keep them for about a week.

I agree that Tablet computers are more toys than actual computers.  I have a cheap small tablet computer (I think the brand is MID) and it's very frustrating to even try and check email on.  I use it mostly for playing Angry Birds.

I just got a Nook Color.  Better for light websurfing than the MID tablet but I still find it frustrating to use for long online.

When I travel, I prefer to take along my Netbook since it's much easier to websurf and check email on.  I take along my Sony Touch ereader for reading.  Not sure I'll bother taking the Nook Color along with me if I'm flying, probably if I was driving.

Sarah... this Keyboard makes a world of difference!  Turns the Tablet into a netbook & can still read on it LOL

You already have Amazon Prime so movies are free.  Rentals last 48 hrs from download time.  I dont download til I ready to watch.  Some times I even watch the next day LOL  & Kevin will watch also when he want to.

My neighbor does the Netflix DVD thingy.  He gets several a week!  He downloads them into his computer then burns them as keepers...    Then sends the org back!   Hes been a member since they started Netflix  his apt is Overloaded with movies!!  Very tempted for me to do the same But I just got rid of all my books & dvds LOL  Not sure I want the clutter...hehehehe

Sarah, do try a stylus with the Nook Color. Makes entering login info much easier. I got a fat tipped one from Amazon basics for around $10 and it works great.

I've never copied the discs I get from Netflix. Not sure how legal that is!
