The colonel was a very public figure and then as now, gossip can destroy a person?s reputation. The people around the colonel were distressed by the Tory inclination of some of his family members. Reverend Gros was a personal friend of Governor George Clinton and it was he who wrote a letter advising the governor of the situation in the area. The governor listened and acted accordingly. This book contains the pension applications of SOME of the men who served under Colonel Jacob Klock.
