Ngaio Marsh's Inspector Roderick Alleyn serves part of WWII in New Zealand, working undercover. A resort full of odd characters seems to be the center of questionable activities and then murder. The setting is highly colorful and includes a Maori ceremony. A good one for mystery-lovers and those who enjoy armchair travels.
