Her father was a hoader, before hoarders were diagnosed and given parts in reality shows. Her mother was physically impaired, and later a TVshopaholic. Both parents had mental issues, but oh, did they love their daughter. And that is what struck me most about this book. It wasn't whiney, look at what they did to me by making me live in soggy trash with a non-flushing toilet and only granola bars and take out for food for us and the rats. the love this family has for each other is so true and warm, and sad. Kim turned out well, and had amazingly supportive friends as she got older. Her only physical scar it seems, from her childhood is that she talks barely louder than a whisper.

She narrated this book, and many times I had to put the volume all the way up to hear her. I thought at first, that it was an affectation, but the issue comes up in the story.

I enjoyed the book quite a bit, and do recommend it. And again, I state, SHE DIDN'T BLAME ANYONE FOR ANYTHING!
