This was written in 1961 after the success of his "A Stillness At Apomattox." (Picked up at the same yard sale.) As a life long reader of War Between The States material I quickly gave up on "Stillness", and didn't read "Fury". Catton insists upon rubbing our faces in the war as if we did it- enough already!
