I wanted to like this book. I really did. But it's based on secondary characters from a book that came out several years ago. I didn't have time to reread the first book.
It just didn't hold my attention the way her earlier books did for me.
What delightful characters! The story is fun and the dialog had me laughing out loud.
Priscilla Jayne Morgan is an up and coming country music star who is embarking on her first major tour. She fires her manager mother and takes some time before the tour starts to escape media hounds. Jared Hamilton is a security specialist hired by her record label to keep an eye on her and make sure that she shows up for the tour. The twist is that PJ and Jared have met before- as runaway teens in Andersen's "Hot and Bothered." This book is a fun, quick read and its amusing to see some of Andersen's previous characters aged 15 years.
I really liked this one. Of course the whole series was good too.
Looked forward to reading - was slow towards middle - Maybe I was impatient...
wasn't sure I would like it but did - cute
Follow up to Hot and Bothered. Really enjoyed the story, fun to see what happened to the characters later on.
This is a very enjoyable book. Susan Andersen is a good author.
This book is related to the marines series, coming in at number 4. It involves P.J. Morgan, the feisty little girl (although not so little anymore) from Hot & Bothered and the heroine of H&B's brother. Great book and i was very happy to see the Priscilla Jane still had the feistiness her character had in H&B. I love PJ and i really enjoyed this book. Has suspense and love and wicked humor. Good time all-around
I love country music and I love romance books so I thought this book would be perfect for me. It took a while for this book to get going. Once it did get going it wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be. It might be that I have been reading romantic suspense lately and I was expecting a little more which really isn't the books fault. It was a good story though.
Really great book. Loved every minute of this book.
Meh. This one falls somewhere between a 2 and a 3 star read. I listened to this book on audio and though it held my attention decently enough I just wasnt feeling any chemistry between the two lead characters. I admit that Ive probably been reading way too much m/m erotica of late, but this book completely lacked steam. It was fun in a cute, empty sort of way and the writing was engaging enough. So engaging I didnt realize that almost nothing of importance had happened for the first half of the book. Still, there wasnt anything that made me scream with laughter or scream with frustration thus the resulting feeling that I just wasted several hours on another meh book.
Jared Hamilton and rising country star Priscilla Jayne Morgan (hereon known as PJ) were once homeless kids who bonded trying to survive on the streets. Now that sounds like a story I would have loved to read. This one notsomuch. Jared now works for a security firm and is hired by PJs faceless recording bigwigs to make sure she shows up for her concerts. They do this supposedly because her Mama, also her former manager until recently (fired because the bitch was stealing from her own daughter) has been bad mouthing her and they assume shes flighty or something. PJ refuses to tell her side of the story and allows mama to ruin her reputation. PJ is much nicer a gal than me. Though all of this makes no sense to me it does set up two crucial plot points in the story so I just shut off my brain and went with it. The two run hot and cold with each other but mostly cold especially Jared. He is the I am an Island. I must not feel emotion or really bad things might happen. I must remain in control at all times but especially during sex type of dude that completely exhausts me. Apparently, Jared felt rejected by PJ years earlier and hes holding on to that feeling for dear life even though 15 or so years have passed. They bop around from town to town, her playing gigs at small honky tonks before the big tour gets into full swing and he shadows her every move. Eventually Jared realizes shes a professional and he is just wasting his time and driving her crazy, and decides to walk away. They share a big not-so-hot (if you ask me), toothy, smoochy. But wait! This is Romancelandia and an off his nut stalker conveniently enters the picture just then and Jared is forced to stick around to protect her. Great timing crazy man, this book could have been over. Instead, they get to fight some more, go to a spa, do some shopping (which gives PJ a chance to model some undies for Bigboy), talk a little and somehow fall in love.
Usually this author is a bit witty but I found myself cringing at some of her phrasing such as when Jared likens PJs little breasts to cupcakes, when PJ calls the sex act the humpty hump and especially when Jared collapsed like a horse that had its legs shot out from under it after experiencing an earth shattering orgasm. Just ew. I dont want to think about dying horses in my light and frothy romances.
Sadly, I did not get the warm fuzzies at any time during this romance and really thats why I read them. Otherwise, whats the point?
This is PJ and Jared's story. They were first in Hot And Bothered by Susan Anderson. I thought it was great!
It's supposed to be the biggest summer of Priscilla Jayne Morgans life. She's on the brink of country music stardom, yet she had to fire her crooked manager Mama, and the tas
bloids are having a field day. Now her record lables hired a watchdog to escort her on her massive summer tour. And not just anyone. either--they sicced Jared Hamilton on her, the guy she once idolized more than anyone in the world.
Well she doesn't care how hot he is. It's been too many years and too much wter under the bridge, and she'll be damned if he gets to tell her what to donow.
Jared remembers exactly how headstroong P.J. can be and he knows she's going to be a handful. Problem is, He'd love to have his hands full of her. But he's cool. He's professional. And he's always in control.
He'd better be. Because for 5 long weeks he's stuck in close quarters with the wildest girl in show business.
Great book! If I had any more room in my house it would be a keeper!
