The Compass of Pleasure is an interesting book that discusses how drugs, sex, gambling, and other vices affect the brain. This book, though written by a neuroscientist, is written in terms that a layman can understand. Though there is some technical jargon, David Linden peppers his writing with enough anecdotes and illustrations to prevent confusion.
