I have just joined the group and tomorrow I will list the booka I have for swap.

Is there a place in the listing for describing the condition of the book. 95% of my books are in very acceptable condition, with about 5% being stained on 1 or 2 pages and some of the paperbacks have page  foldovers. Also, do I mention paperback or hard cover somewhere in the listing?.

What I wonderful idea this club is and I am looking forward to becoming an active member.  Thanks.

Kathie

You can not post books with stains. Stains are not allowed on PBS swappable books. When you post a book by it's ISBN, it will come up as hardcover or paperback. There is no way to describe your book when you post. No rips, tears, stains.

Welcome to PBS! It's a great place to be! Everyone here is super friendly. :)

There is a great amount of really useful info in the help center.  It may seem daunting at first, but it is really helpful.

Welcome to the club, and relax and have fun.  And it is a lot of fun.  Just remember, if you wouldn't want to receive a book in a certain condition, then don't send it out!

Here's some links to the Help Center to get you started :)

How to post a book  - the basics

How do I post a book without an ISBN? - for books that don't have an ISBN

Book Condition Guidelines - what can and can't be posted

Those should get you headed in the right direction as far as your questions are concerned.  If you have any more questions you can come right on back here for help, or you can PM your Tour Guide from your Personal Messages page for a 1-on-1 walkthrough :)

Glad you're excited about the site.  So many of us have not only been excited to find the site, but are still excited about it day in and day out.  Hope you have tons of fun getting familiar with the site, and again, Welcome to the Swap!!!

Hi Kathie- Welcome!

PBS is great- I just want to add my two cents to second (or third) the fact that it's absolutely critical that you read the hep documents that explain how PBS works and what is postable and not postable.  Not doing that is what causes new members the most problems and is a great way to kill your excitement!

PBS works on a FIFO system.  First in- first out.  That means all of your books posted MUST meet the minimum posting guidelines, and then for fairness sake it goes in a line and gets requested in the order it came in.  So if there are 20 copies of your book currently in the system and you post yours, now it's the 21st in line to be requested.  You can trade your unpostables elsewhere or give them to Goodwill, etc.  Just don't send them here or you will end up having to return the credit you earn.

Have a wonderful time swapping books!  Sara

You can also offer your unpostables for free with an order from your shelf.  You can put it in your signature line and I believe there is a thread in the book bazaar where you can do this, or start your own thread with a list of your unpostables.

welcome!

To all who took the time to answer my questions, a big hug and a warm thank you.

One thing I can guarantee is that all the books I buy or acquire from now on will be treated like a special guest in my home.

Thanks again.

Karhie

Kathie, what a beautiful sentiment!  I think I'm treating my books as guests too because I don't mind that they are taking up a lot of space in every room of my apartment!  LOL -- They are welcome here!!

I used to buy books just to read.  Now I buy books to not only read, but also look at them as to whether they're postable.  LOL.  Pat

So do I, I'm much more fussy at the used bookstores than I once was.

I'm much nicer to my books now that I trade them on PBS.  I used to read them in the tub, prop them open, read them while eating etc..,  Now I only do that to books that are already unpostable.  And even then I still try to be more careful with them.
