Please don't send books with writing inside - notes, underlining, etc - Name on the flyleaf is fine. Please don't send books with tanning or yellowing pages. I had posted this wishlist book and got this condition. As far as I am concerned it is in great condition other than a tiny reminder mark on bottom but because there were conditions and I had never read it ( one of those books I strarted and didn't get into right away so started something else and thought I'd come back to) I went to look it over real good and noticed a little yellowing starting around the edges of the book just starting from age but it is barely noticible but the way this is worded I am nervous. Would you send it? |

It sounds like it doesn't meet the conditions. It has some yellowing, it has the reminder mark (which is writing someplace other than the flyleaf... I think that meets the conditions because it's not on the inside of the book, but I'm not sure). Decline and tell the person about the yellowing and move on. If you're not sure whether the reminder mark would be OK with her based off the RC, you might mention that she state whether a reminder mark is OK in her conditions. I'd word it something like this. I'm sorry, but my book has some yellowing and does not meet your conditions. I hope someone else is able to fill your wish soon. As an FYI, my book also had a reminder mark, and I wasn't sure whether a reminder mark would meet your "no writing" condition, so you might want to update your conditions to state whether a reminder mark is OK or not. Personally, I'd think that a person who wants no yellowing is not likely to be OK with a reminder mark, but that's just a guess. :) Last Edited on: 5/23/08 10:38 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Thanks for the help that was what I was thinking too.... so I cancelled it . I do not understand a no yellowing condition all books start to yellow around the edges as they age unless every book you order was recently released. |

That yellowing thing is going to get them turned down quite a bit I think. I've had books that weren't even that old that had started yellowing. Not badly but you could see it starting. They use such cheap paper to make them now. I would have turned it down too unless it was a brand new book only read once by me. |

Sounds like the requestor is one of those members who only likes to receive "like new" books. It'd be nice if we could all get only nice new books all the time. hehe. Someone with request like this should probably be prepared to get a lot of turned downs. |

This book was like brand new my mom had sent it to me 2/3 years ago and I started to read it and could not get into it at the time so it has just been sitting on my bookshelf so I guess it was only read 1/2 a time. It was published in 2002. I only posted it cause it was on wl and I figured if it had been sitting this long and I hadn't gotten back to it it was time to let someone else enjoy it. |

did you cancel it or decline saying it doesn't meet RC? If you cancelled vs decline I don't know if you can post the book again until that person gets a copy but if you had said it doesn't met RC then it would have put that person's wish on their RL if that person was the only one wishing for the book. |

I put on there it didn't meet her conditions since it was starting to yellow a bit.

My requestor conditions are pretty basic - I don't like to get hardcover books that are missing their dustjackets (something about having a "bare" book bothers me to distraction!) and I have a reminder for no highlighting or writing in the text of the book, after getting several books that had that in it DESPITE it already being against PBS rules.... rather than mark those books RWAP I just decided to chalk it up to lesson learned and put on some requestor conditions |

...rather than mark those books RWAP I just decided... Kimberly, please always mark books that do not meet site rules as RWP. Even if you do not ask for your credit back, the site then has a record of it and can weed out bad swappers and the sender finds out that their book was not postable. Some people really do not read the rules and if people are not marking them RWP they never learn and keep sending them. |
