It really upsets me that people don't read conditions that others have on books. I have one condtion - This condition ONLY concerns Audio Cassette Books. If this is an audio cassette book, please make sure that all of the cassettes are there and take a look at the cassettes and make sure the spools are secure and that the tape isn't twisted. - It doesn't say a thing about books from smoking homes or pets or anything else. Today got an email about a book that I've had on my wish list for months. It read - We're sorry, but the book you requested on 8/6/2012 'Renegade (Dark Ops, Bk 3)' by Catherine Mann cannot be mailed because of your Requestor Conditions. The member from whom this book was ordered had this to say...I received this book through the swap and don't know if it came from a smoking home. Now I have another wait for this book since there were a number waiting for it and it went to someone else. |

Maybe only turn on your RC when you're requesting audio books? Won't solve the problem of people not reading, but will reduce the opportunities for misunderstanding or not paying attention. |

BookwormKath, the OP's book was on her wishlist and she can't control her RC on wishlist books, only when she requests books that are already posted in the system, can she remove her RC. To the OP, sorry about that and your RC clearly states Only pertains to Audio Cassette books. It's so frustrating especially when your RC says nothing about no books that smell like smoke. I guess some people don't even read them and will turn down all RCs, but to put that as a reason to turn it down is questionable. |

Actually, if she has the audio on her WL but not on Auto-Request and she is offered the audio, she can go activate her RC before she accepts the offer. That way her RC only applies to that transaction. |

This isn't the first time this has happened and it's probably why so many people who do have conditions don't list them. I guess some people just see that there's conditions and don't even both to read them - hence her saying that she didn't know if the book came from a smoking home. This is exactly why I PM everyone who requests and book from me and tell them the conditions the book is coming from (pets, smoking, etc). I will cancel a request if I don't hear back from them by the date the book is supposed to be mailed. I like using auto request so I guess I'll put up with this type of thing. I just wanted to post in the forums in hopes that people that automatically refuse any book without reading the conditions would see it and stop and think about reading those conditions. |

Turning it off and then setting all of your Audio to Auto - No is the easiest IF you are around enough to catch them all and turn on the RC before accepting the offer. I am very explicit in mine "If I ordered a book listed as a hardcover in the system..." "If I order a book listed as a paperback I have no other conditions, please send it I can't wait to read it :)". But when I get stupid turn downs, I count myself lucky. If they can't read my RCs, what are the odds they could they read the site rules any better? |

Okay, thanks Mary S, forgot that as my wishlist books are all on auto request of which I love. Nancy, hope you eventually get your book. But when I get stupid turn downs, I count myself lucky. If they can't read my RCs, what are the odds they could they read the site rules any better? -- Melanie, isn't that sad, but true. lol

They might have confused it with another request. I have no RCs at all. But I had a WL book cancelled on me recently with "I have cats" as a reason. Um ok. I have 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs and a teenager, what's your point? She had cancelled my request by mistake.
