I don't really understand why this book has gotten such low reviews. I found it very funny with a great storyline. Well... it was more a substory but over all the book was good. I did find that there seemed to be parts missing or extra words thrown in (but if you are a speed reader, you won't even notice). I think a lot of the confusion could stem from the fact that Ms. Cornick is not an American writer. She lives in England, so her wording is not always the same as an American writer would be. All that said, I found the book to be an enjoyable read with an interesting storyline and I look forward to the two other books to follow.

On a side note... there is a "before" story that isn't told. I don't know if there is a book that comes before this one or not (I haven't done that research yet) but you are told the before story as the book goes on. That could be why some people aren't liking this book because you have to gather what came before as you are reading what is happening now. Also the book raps up very nice and neat at the end. So there really isn't much drama. But again, I enjoyed the substory more than the main story line. I found it worth the read!

This was a great read. Laura and Dexter's story was well written. I enjoyed the story and the underlying stores of Nat and Lizzie and Miles and Alice. Great read.
