I am so confused.  I noticed a book that I've had posted to my shelf for at least a couple weeks is on Wish list hold... shouldn't it have been ordered directly?  And if you click the title, to see all the information and reviews, you can click "Order This Book" (as opposed to "Post This Book" if there were none in the system)...  what's going on?

Are you saying that the book is on someone's Wishlist but hasn't been processed?  Is it possible there are more books in the system?  Since you didn't mention which book it is hard to know for sure

Wish list hold means that someone has the book on their WL and the system is allowing either a 1 hour hold (if on auto request) or a 48 hour hold (if just WL'd without auto request). So, in either one hour or 48 hours it will change to a requested book and you will be able to print the wrapper. (providing the person doesn't cancel)

But how did it end up on their WL?  It is in the system, and has been, even if I do have the only copy...it should have showed up as a normal request with just the usual hr for buyers remorse...instead it is a wish list hold waiting 48 hours for member to confirm.  It just doesn't make sense to me.  And the book is Absalom, Absalom! 9780679732181

Jo,

The member may have "coverted" the book from their reminder list to their wish list in which case it would show up as  WL hold and if it is not on auto-request (which is likely since default option is NO), then the member has 24 hours to respond and confirm the request since the book is available. If he/she cancels, it will be taken off their wishlist and made available to the next person who requests it.

Assuming your book was in the system before it became wishlisted, there may not be other members who are looking for the book and/or this specific edition of the book. You can always determine that by adding the book to your reminder list to see how many people are looking for it.

Hope this helps

Nita

Another possibility is the person had her account on vacation hold since before you posted the book. When her hold expired, any books that had been posted during the hold and were on her wish list with auto-request off would have been processed.
