I just finished opening several packages. I posted that I was looking for new books for a couple of different projects we are doing for Christmas - sponsoring a 2nd grade boy and also helping a group home. I received some of the most beautiful books. I also ordered a book that my son wanted - never asked the condition, figured it would be good enough. I was pleasantly surprised that it looks brand new and I'll save it for him for Christmas. The last book I open was a hardover Christmas book that I wanted for my family. I pm'd the member to find out the condition and make sure it came with the CD. I was told it was in good condition and that it was carefully handled, but there was a small tear on the back cover. I open the book and there are big wrinkly spots on the top of each page - like it was grabbed by wet fingers. There are also rips on the bottom of each pages - like the pages stuck together and were pulled apart. I sent a note to the member to let them know I wouldn't consider this good condition. I'm disappointed, but after all of the beautiful books that I did receive today, I'm trying to let it go and just mark it received. Am I being too picky? Would you post this book? |

I would never have posted a book in that condition! And certainly the sender should have been honest with you about it and not told you about ONE small tear. Yikes. |

No, that book doesn't sound postable, stuck pages sound like water damage, and I don't think you should just mark it received. There's no need to reward the person who didn't follow the rules of the site just because everyone else you received books from today was able to. You don't need to ask for your credit back if you don't want to, but I think you should mark it RWAP. Especially since they assured you it was in good condition via PM and when it arrived it wasn't even postable. |

I will refund you a credit. And I will keep your name, and never order abook or send you a book again. Merry Christmas. |

Jennifer - most people are defensive when they are wrong and are called on it -- just ignore the response. It is good to know her attitude, because I wouldn't want to deal with her again. I have had a couple of books I marked RWAP - the sender was always friendly, apologetic and sent me the credit Sometimes it wasn't the credit I wanted, but to let them know that books shouldn't be sent in that condition. Have a great holiday. Robin |

Jennifer-- I love your attitude about enjoying all the great books you've received. And at PBS, the glass is indeed 95% full. I try to remind myself of this when dealing with a stinker of a book or a stinker of a person. You did all of us a favor by marking this one RWAP. Oh, and Merry Christmas or Happy Insert-your-holiday-of-choice-here! |

Jennifer, so many people are defensive when they're wrong and are called on it . Just ignore that response or be grateful that you'll never deal with that person again. It's good to know her attitude, because I wouldn't want to deal with her again. Too bad there's no way to block those individuals I've some good and some bad response to an RWAP. Nothing like that one though.
I did have one that sent me a message similar to that over my extensive RC asking for books to be wrapped in plastic and come from a current non-smoking home. Have great holidays, Geri |

Thanks everyone. I think it bothered me mostly because I specifically asked about the condition. At least there are more copies in the system, so I can order another and hope for the best!
I appreciate the comments! |
