Fairly new here. I hate to be too picky but I wouldn't send this to someone, and I won't be reposting it. There is some buckling on the bottom of all the pages, does look like it was exposed to moisture at some point.  It is readable. So when are you being too picky?

Just from that picture, I personally wouldn't mark it RWAP.  If there is water damage, I can't see it in that shot.

The picture looks like shelf wear. I can't see the buckling of pages from that angle. Water damage is pretty obvious - staining and stiff brittle pages.  From the pic its hard to tell if it is excessively worn, but I wouldn't mark it as RWP from what I can see. It does appear to be nearing the end of its postable life though.

I think it looks like a worn book but not necessarily excessively worn. How old is the book?

I don't think the wear on the cover is water damage. It could have come from moisture - I've seen moisture do that to a book's cover - but it might have come from other things too, and I don't think it counts as water damage.

I've had book covers start to look like that from being hauled around in my bag and just knocking against things a lot.  It's humid here in the summer, but the ones that happened to for me didn't touch actual water.

Count me in as deeming it postable (and thus not RWAP) unless the photo doesn't show all the damage. Karen

Looks like shelf/edge wear to me.  I don't see any water damage at all.

I don't think I would say anything if I go it. But, I can tell you if I had it I wouldn't post it just because of the worn cover. I'd be afraid someone would mark it RWAP.

Gives me a good idea on what is considered unpostable. Have read all the "rules" but it helps to hear your opinions on what you would accept. Personally, I would not send a book that looked like that out, just me I guess;) I won't be reposting it for just that reason, I think It would be marked RWAP.

thanks!

I just wanted to suggest to those who said they wouldn't send a book like that. If there aren't any others in the system and the book does meet the PBS guidlines (even if it doesn't meet your personal ones) you should consider posting it. People wishlisting likely really want it and your standard may be different from theirs. I think keeping it in the system is the nice thing to do. As I said, when it does meet the PBS guidlines.

I would post that book. I would be happy to get one looking like that as well. I just want to read them. I have bought books from yard sales with mold because I love reading them that much!!! I know mold makes it unpostable here, but I am mentioning it as a reference. Some people just don't care how it looks.

My two cents!

Sita - mold is dangerous!!!

As far as the pic of that book.. it's hard to tell from just one angle. It's probably postable but personally, I wouldn't post it either. I would offer it as an unpostable with an order from my shelf though. Or if I saw someone really wanted it, just send it as a RAOK. But.. that's just me.

Honestly, if the binding is still good & tight, the pages are clean & nothing is warped, there's really nothing wrong with posting a book with a cover that looks like that.  It's worn, but it's basically intact and the chipped or worn away edge bits don't look like an inch or more of missing cover, and I don't see any rips.  I don't think it's bad enough to make it unpostable, but it might qualify if the rest of the book is badly worn.  The spine looks twisted - or is that just the camera angle?  Also, toward the lower outer edge, are the pages under the area where the cover edge has sort of worn away curled up & discolorated?  It looks like they might be but it's hard to see.  Just from what I can see from the one pic, I'm thinking that I wouldn't mark it RWAP because it appears to be technically postable, but I wouldn't repost it either.
