I've worked in construction as an office manager for more than 10 years now so I really WANTED to like this book.

But, it wasn't to be.

Here's a heroine with an upper degree in business and NO ONE in all of Chicago will hire her because

1. She comes from a wealthy family
2. She has no experience.

Really? No one? No volunteer positions available to get some experience? Evidently not. And yet, she stresses several times that she "used her own money to pay for grad school." Where did that money come from since she's never had a job?

Anyway, she takes off to visit her estranged grandfather with a, wait for it, Do It Yourself Handyman Repair book to work construction.

Oh yeah, I'm sure all the women in real life who work in construction would looooove that one. All you need is a book!

Grandpa doesn't so much give her a job as foist her off on Matt, who takes one look at her and decides she's a trouble. But he's stuck with her.

The "quirky townspeople" referred to on the back cover? Most of them are mean spirited, not quirky.

So, I feel I'm being extremely generous in giving this book 2 stars.
