Is there anyway to contact a member who has ordered a book, before I say I can mail the book??

Someone ordered a book from me and it is the first in a 3 book series,  I have the other 2 and would like to offer her a deal, but I don't want to say I can mail the book she ordered until I contact her.

I sure hope you all understand what I am trying to say LOL

Use the PM button on the book order. It is in the center bottom of the book order. never mind. I don't think you can contact her before you accept the order.

Nope there's no way.  You can when a book is on WL hold but once the request appears to accept or decline the PM button disappears.

Ok thanks all, I think there should be a way to contact, just in case you do want to let them no about a deal or other books you have.

Unless you only want to mail the books together, I'd go ahead and accept the request, choose the latest mailing date, and then PM her about the other two books.  That way you still have time to mail them all together if she wants them.

What BookwormKath said yes

From your post it sounds like you're probably aware that the rules say we can't require a person to order more than one book from us.  If we post a book, we've agreed to mail it when it's requested, even if it breaks up a set.  But offering her a deal on the set is fine, and a nice thing for both of you.

Also, of you want to offer the books as a set, instead of posting them, you can advertise them in the Book Bazaar, or in the red sticky thread at the top of the appropriatre genre forum.

You might have better success Bertie, by posting the first book then asking if the requester is interested in the next two.  But, you would have to be prepared to send it solo if they did not want/need the others.  A person requesting book #3 has often read books 1 and 2.

Otherwise, you might wish to use one of the other methodsfor multiples posted above.

I read it that way, too, at first Denise, but he said the book is "the first in a 3 book series", so I think he's in good shape.

There is a way to contact them and let them know about deals: you accept the offer. That will make it possible to send them a PM. Unless you're planning on making some kind of swapping condition, which is against the rules, there's no reason you need to contact them before accepting the offer.

I don't understand why would you not just accept and then contact her? Accept, offer the other 2 in a deal, and if she accepts, great. If she declines, you just mail the book she ordered and the others stay on your shelf.

If you were intending to decline her one-book request if she DOESN'T want the other 2, I think that's wrong...and requiring a requesting member to accept a deal or order more than one book to save you postage is against PBS rules.

Oops, looks like Willa just said the same thing in a different way. LOL

I would never not send a book because someone didn't take a deal.  I wanted to let her no that I had the others. I only had the one book listed, wanted to let her know I had the others and would like to offer a deal on them.  I can only get to the post office on Monday so I can't accept any books until I can say I will mail on Monday.  Thought maybe she would look for others and spend more credits then she had to.

I was finally able to accept the book the other day.  I pm'd the member right away to let her know about the deal I was giving.  She pm'd me back and said " I wish I would have known I ordered the other books from two different members, wow I could have saved a credit"

She had the option of using the "order more from member" button when she ordered the first book from you.  That's too bad.

I didn't have all three books listed.  I have the 3 book set which was not posted, plus I had the first book in the series, which I posted.

It's a shame you weren't able to contact her advance then, sounds like she missed out because of it.
