I am posting lots of cookbooks that belonged to my mother. Most are magazine special issues and are pamphlet sized. All books are in very good condition. I really want to get rid of them so please check out my bookshelf. If you see any you would like, PM me with the titles and I will let you know how many credits I will take for them (I am willing to send out at least 4-5 books for 1 credit, but it will depend on which ones you would like, as some are heaveier than others).

This applies to cookbooks only.

Thanks for looking!

Amy

Hi;  Please do not post magazines; they are not allowed to swap here.  As for pamplets, this is from the Help Center.

Not allowed:

  • Anything that is not a book
  • Anything that contains advertising
  • Advance Reader Copies (also known as ARC s, Review Copies or Uncorrected Proofs--these are not the final versions of books)
  • CD-ROM books/e-books (books that must be read on a computer)
  • Burned copies of audio books
  • Xerox or otherwise unoriginal copies of books
  • Unbound pages
  • leaflets or pamphlets or booklets* without ISBNs (other members complain at spending a credit for these)
  • Books that require supplementary non-media materials (non-media materials cannot be sent by MediaMail)
  • Pornography (sex manuals and erotica are allowed, hardcore pornography is not allowed)

*A leaflet/pamphlet is an item with fewer than 20 pages; a booklet is an item with between 20 and 50 pages.

Please note: if you Post an inappropriate item for swapping, it may be removed from the database as an automatic action without notice; if it has been requested from you before that happens, you will not get credits for sending it.

These are not magazines, they are magazine special issue cookbooks. I suppose they could be considered booklets according to your post's description of a booklet. The very reason I am offering 5-for-1 is because they are small, that, and I really want to get rid of them. Not all books are large.

AJC,

As Junie has indicated these are not allowed to be posted here at PBS. And probably not supposed to be sent via Media Mail either. The Help Center is very clear about what is not a book. PBS is a place to swap books, not booklets or pamphlets or magazines. It is kind of you to offer a few for one credit but, despite the deals we can make her in the Bazaar, the basic premise is one book for one credit. The problem would begin if someone was browsing through books and ordered some from you and then since you had them posted, repost them and the next member unwittingly orders one for one credit. Now it is a problem for someone way down the line who has nothing to do with your generous deal here, but spends a credit for a booklet containing just a few pages.

Perhaps offering them free with an order from your shelf may be a better way to go here because these are not supposed to be posted.

Cheryl

Just to reiterate, you can't post a booklet or leaflet if it does not have an ISBN.  And if a booklet has an  ISBN, you HAVE to include the number of pages in the description.  From the Help Docs on what cannot be posted here.

Pamphlets/Booklets/leaflets without ISBNs: NO

  • These sometimes contain advertising; members also complain at having to pay a credit for these.
  • Leaflet/pamphlets/booklets with ISBNs may be posted: if so, the number of pages must be included in the item description.
(leaflets/pamphlets  have less than 20 pages; booklets have less than 50 pages.)

The ones I looked at on your shelf don't have ISBN's listed, so unfortunately, it looks as if they are not postable here.

What you CAN do with these, though, is first remove them from your shelf, and then list them on your profile or signature (I see you make good use of your profile!) :-)  and then go over to the book bazaar and offer a deal where if someone orders a book from your shelf, you'll include one or more of the booklets as a freebie.  I bet they'll go fast.

It looks like I'm repeating what others have said here, but site rules also state that you can't post anything that can't be sent media mail, and if it has any advertising in it, USPS doesn't allow it to go media mail.  So on several levels, you can't ask for a credit for them, but you can use them as enticements to order from your very nice shelf.

I was trying to offer a deal on all my cookbooks, didn't mean to start a debate...

Yes, some of the cookbooks are booklets without ISBN numbers, but many have more than 50 pages, and therefore ARE allowable on my bookshelf. Some of the cookbooks do indeed have ISBN numbers, but have less than 50 pages, and are therefore considered booklets. Do these booklets have advertisements throughout, such as you would find in a magazine? No, they do not. Some are magazine special-issue booklets, however. I hope this is more clear. I have posted the titles of the books I am including in this offer on my profile and have included page numbers. You will find that some are also listed on my bookshelf. If you have any questions, please send me a PM.

Thanks for looking!
