It seems the only way to find out how many copies are available is to go through the 'Reminder List'. This is unecessarily cumbersome. It would be nice to know how many copies are already in the system BEFORE posting. Why post a book that already has 600+ copies ahead of it? Let's show the number of copies available at one of the early posting screens! Thanks |

The people who run this site don't check the forums. You can contact the owners via the link on the bottom right of every screen. For what it's worth, I don't necessarily think you're wrong in terms of it being cumbersome, however I really can't see the site owners doing anything that would serve to dissuade people from posting their books here. It's been brought up many times, but caviglia's right. I doubt number/place in line will happen. For what it's worth, some highly posted books move remarkably fast. Some people put a note on their posted book of the number when they post it and check back after a while (days/weeks) to see if the FIFO line is moving; you can see if the number goes up or down you and use that to make a decision as to whether to keep it posted or not.
Personally, I just post everything and see what happens. Nothing from when I first joined is left on my shelf, though I've periodically added more. Your decision may have to do with storage space though or other factors. |

People have been commenting on this for years but I don't think they will ever add it to any place but the RL. Plus you can't always go by the number posted. I've posted books with hundreds in the system and had them ordered very quickly. But I've also had the only copy of books that sat on my bookshelf for more than a year. That being said, I pretty much donate anything that's not WL or only has a few copies posted. That's mostly because I have a very small place and I'd rather have room for my unread books. But I also have a large TBR of wish list books and so don't really need to have a large bookshelf here to earn credits. |

I have had a lot of books requested that had hundreds in the system ahead of me when people "order more from this member". Like Mary, I have also had the only copy of a book in the system, of a book I thought was friggin' terrific, yet it sits there months after months unrequested...so I pretty much ignore how many copies are in the system, in my experience it is practically meaningless. |

I post many books with over 200 copies in the system and they are almost all ordered within a year. I rarely get orders for more than one book at a time so my copies aren't "jumping ahead" of others in the Fifo line. Last Edited on: 5/19/13 8:11 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Whenever I post a WL book, I also post everything else I've got sitting around, in case they check out my bookshelf. I've swapped some books well before I expected to because of people picking up a second book. People also can check out your bookshelf if they see you post something here or someplace. etc.. You never know what people might pick up if it's on your Bookshelf. Last Edited on: 5/22/13 1:02 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I've always sort of assumed it was more of a feature than a bug. |

This request of having an easier way to see how many copies of books there are in the system gets brought up all the time- I brought it up myself once~
