This was a fun, quick read. It was a light fairy tale (literally) set in England in the 1640s.

I have to admit, most of the time I judge a book by it's cover. Most of the time it pans out well. In this instance it did. The cover art (inside and out) is absolutely beautiful! This would get 5 stars. The story itself was pretty good as well and would probably get 3 stars. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. It's a fairy tale of sorts. It's about a girl named Coriander, who lives an almost perfect life. Little does she know that her mother is a princess from another world. But when her mother falls ill and soon passes away, Coriander starts to learn a lot about herself. Especially when her father has to flee and she is left in the cruel hands of her stepmother and the evil preacher. Coriander grows to find strength, friendship and love through all her hardships. It all begins "Once upon a time...".
This was a lovely story. It held me to it but did not "grab" on to me. I think there could of been more for it was a bit slow at times. I would recommend this book to those who love fairy tales and happy endings!
