As undoubtedly many of you Cornwell fans on here know, BC has a new book about the American Revolution coming out soon. Apparently, the title has been changed from Captivate, Kill or Destroy to The Fort. However, the title has not yet been changed in the PBS data base, though I have submitted a data edit. The hardcover will be released on Sept. 28 (ISBN 9780061969638) -- 19 of us have already put it on the WL. What you may NOT know is that the paperback version is (apparently) due to be released on Oct. 10 -- but the only way to WL it is through the ISBN -- it is not coming up by title or author. The ISBN for those who want to put the pb version on your WL -- which right now consists of exactly one of us (i.e., yours truly) -- is 9780007331734. Again, the title will read Captivate, Kill or Destroy, but when you click on it, you'll see the title is The Fort.

You can thank me by sending me a WL book.wink

I put it on my WL (Thanks, Deb!). But I wonder if the publication release data is correct.

According to Amazon U.S. and U.K., the hardcover editions will be released at the end of Sept. These usually precede the paperback, although not always. In the U.K., the paperback is scheduled for release in June 2011. Paperbacks usually come out about 1 year after the hardcover, if the hardcover sells well. So this timeline makes sense.

On the U.S. site, the paperback release date is as Deb says above - 10 Oct. But that's only one month following the hardcover. My guess is, this is a misprint. It should probably be 2011.

But that's just a guess.

Yippee !! Linda & I are 3 of 3 !!! (Although, Linda gets a little impatient where Cornwell is concerned and will probably just buy it - at which point we will free up our spot ... AND ... have another book to put into circulation.)

Great post, Deb; superb information, just an all around "good job" to ya ... yes

And, uhm, we'll work on that whole WL book idea ...

Kelly

Yeah, Genie, I know -- I thought it was likely a misprint as well -- but since there was an ISBN already assigned, I decided to look on the bright side. But I didn't know that the paperback version wasn't being released in the UK until next June. So, you're probably right -- it's unlikely that the US pb version would come out beforehand.  Thanks for bursting my bubble (as well as Linda's, Kelly's, and Cheryl's).sad Well, at least I'm still #1 on the WL -- I just may be waiting an extra year.

(PBS, by the way, is going to stick with the title, "Captivate, Kill or Destroy" -- apparently, it's too much of a hassle to change the title when there are already WLers.)

Yeah, well, it's a helluva job. But somebody has to do it. At least I know my roll in life - to bring bad news and general rotten luck to those near me. devil

Deb, I was curious to see if they'd change the title because none of the ones I've submitted has been changed. That really sucks too because, technically, the ISBN is now no good. When you post a book, the title HAS to match what is shown on the screen. I wonder if this will confuse people and cause them to add the book with a PBS-generated ISBN instead. This whole Cornwell issue has me scurred. What if this causes Shelly to be unable to get her Cornwell fix? Heads will roll. Heads. Will. Roll. *shiver*

Then again, I wonder if the title will change when PBS links to it's book database somewhere down the road.... It might, maybe closer to the release date. I just don't know. I wish more people would take the initiative to personally explain the workings of everything to me, and even ask my opinion from time to time, but they don't. :-(

Valli -- Sorry -- didn't see your post above until just now.  When I first received PBS' response, I just blindly accepted it -- but then I realized (1) the person thought I was submitting a change from The Fort to Captivate, Kill or Destroy instead of vice-versa, and (2) that it really was stupid not to change the title (of a new release by a best-selling author) when it clearly is the wrong title.  So I sent another message -- and will let you know what happens.

I actually was recently successful in changing the title of the new Cecelia Holland book which had been listed wrong in the data base, so I was buoyed by my triumph.  Yay!!

It really does surprise me that people don't ask your opinion....

Oh, and Genie -- LOL!

ETA: Just received a sweet and apologetic note from the PBS book data person pledging to correct the title. Another yay!!!
