I have a book I'd like to list and it's one I requested and received from another member, but I've double and triple checked the ISBN on the back and the binding listed here is hardcover, but mine is paperback. I don't want to list it incorrectly. There's currently one other copy in the system. There are two ISBNs inside and one is listed here as hardcover, another as spiral-bound. Neither is correct for my copy. Any suggestions? |

Good job noticing the discrepancy! If you go to the Post Books page, up in the yellow bar you'll find a link for posting a book without an ISBN. For more details on why this happens, there are two help docs titled
My "links" here won't be clickable, but you can search for them by typing in "paperback hardcover" in the "browse help docs" search window. Last Edited on: 3/26/12 4:43 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Make sure what you have isn't an Advanced Reader's Copy. Those aren't postable here. It's too late to make a complaint about the copy you received if it is an ARC. But it can't be posted if it is an ARC. ARC's will often times have the same ISBN as the hardcover version but look like a tradesized paperback. If it is an ARC it'll say something like Uncorrected Proof or Advanced Reader's Copy on it somewhere but it isn't always glaringly obvious. |

Thanks very much, Patty and Mary! I'll look at the help docs. The book is definitely not an ARC. |

I've run into this problem. There are bookclubs that will issue a book in paperback but it will have the ISBN of the hardback. You can list the book in the Book Bazzar or check the instructions for posting a book without an ISBN. |

Also check the ISBN somewhere else (like Amazon) and see what it is listed as. I had a paperback that I posted but it was listed in PBS as a HC. I checked the ISBN on Amazon and they listed it as a PB. I contacted PBS and it was an error in their system, they manually changed it to PB. |

Mike, that is very rare. PBS almost never changes a binding type: only when research shows that the book was never ever offered as the edition listed at PBS will the binding type be changed. Someone at PBS did the research when you asked about the discrepancy with Amazon. (Amazon alone as a source would not be sufficient to get binding changed.) Here are clickable links to the pages Patty referenced above:
