----correction to earlier info, according to Contact Us------

I just was looking in the Help Center and saw this quote so asked "Contact Us" and got a correction-- here's the quote from the Help Docs:

"If you do not have credits (or enough PBS Money for the swap fee, or a free swap) in your account when an auto-requested book becomes available, the Auto-Request will convert to a regular Wish List (48-hour) offer.  If your account is on Vacation Hold in this situation, you will be "bypassed" for the book, and you will remain in your place in the Wish List."

So-- it looks like it won't be quite like Swapdvd, where if you are on auto-request and have no money in your account, you get passed over on the wishlist...that will only happen if your account is "on hold", anyway. This is what I got from Contact Us:

"If you appear to be away (if your account is on hold) and you lack credits OR 49 cents in PBS Money (or a free swap), the system will skip you. If your account is active, the auto-requested wish will convert to a 48-hour offer and you will get a notification to buy credits or Money to accept the offer. (If you have no PBS Money but you do have a "free swap," (from Limited Membership or from sending an outgoing book with postage) that will be taken instead of PBS Money.)"

So just correcting my head's up!

original post below (that I am correcting above):

this isn't really a question, more of a head's up

I just wanted to make this really clear in a post (in case some people don't know)--

For those who will be going A La Carte like me, make sure that--

If you keep your wishlist on auto-request, that you make sure you have $ in your PBS money account (this is like swapadvd and swapacd also) or you will be passed over in the wishlist line.

The way around this is to put everything on the 48-hour hold (to allow you to put money in the account). Swapadvd eliminated the 50 cent charge to do this (adding money), but it looks like they're keeping it here...

Also, if you put your account on vacation hold but still want to get wishlist offers during that time, you have to put those books on auto-request, so make sure you have $ in your PBS account to do that and still get the wishlist offer.

Other than that, hey it's been great posting!

Edited to: try and be more clear

Thank you Melanie.

Yes it's crucial to keep money in your account for auto request.

48 hour gives you the option to deposit credits and/or money.
