I just finished this book. I have been resistant to reading him because his writing style is so unusual. But this book was great-until the end!! What the heck??? Yeah I know Chigurzh got away...I think... but there were a lot of unanswered questions.

I just didn't get it! Or maybe I was just disappointed. Any thoughts? I will definitely see the movie. i love the Coen brothers.

loved the book, loved the movie............McCarthy is a brilliant author.

for me the main focus of the book is not the bad guy and whether or not he got away, (but I think he did) it was the law enforcement personnel who deal with bad guys every day.  It was about how things change and how they stay the same. There will always be bad guys but the crimes they commit are changing, attitudes are changing. The lawmen who are getting old remember the history of the area and of the lawmen who came before them. It's more than a job to them, it's a way of life. That way is changing  quickly and there is only one constant........  there will always be criminals,  and lawmen who will go after them.

when you go to the movie I don't think you will be disappointed. It follows the book very closely except for one part that is just left out. I thought that part explained some things about the guy who took the money, about his character, but having read it in the book, I didn't miss it in the movie. Know what I mean? It's like something I already knew so it was just an extra.

after you see the movie check back in and let us know what you thought.

I had a hard time reading this book because of the writing style.  It just didn't do it for me.  The movie was very true to the book however and I enjoyed that a lot more.

I loved the book and movie as well.  McCarthy is dark, his books always seem to question, where is God in all this tragedy?

I just finished listening to that book in audio--it was so riveting, I did a whole bunch of spring cleaning just so I could be doing mindless stuff and keep listening! LOL I need to see the movie now. What a read!
