This handsome book by a well known writer features 100's of plants, found everywhere that are ignored largely by city dwellers. A must-have book for countryside observers; few nowadays are schooled in wild foods;(I joined a group of wild food hunters & eaters too-it was endlessly fascinating.) Country people used to know all about them and used them for 100's of years. Now, even fewer know about the high grade quality of food value and vitamins available to them in their own yards and woods. The greens are full of Vitamin A. Each plant is described w/handsome b&w illustrations; details where found; recipes for each are given-a wide selection from breads, sauces, jellies ice cream to simmer pots, etc. w/easy instructions. Even recipes for broom which I grow - I had no idea.Includes both latin & common names of each. From A (angelica) to Y (yarrow)-no z as yet. Clover, hawthorn, poppy, watercress and 100's more. size 10" x 8". A fine addition to any library.
