Besides the error messages that I'd been getting when I tried to log in, which have resolved, I surprisingly got one of those, "Has this book arrived yet," message a few days ago for a book that isn't even due to arrive until the 30th (arbitrary, the date, I know).  Today on my home page it says 1 book to mark mailed, 5 enroute.  They are really eager for me to mark this book mailed.  Mailed with DC, it clearly shows it is still in Kansas and I am almost on the east coast.  No big deal, but this is something that hasn't happened before for me.

Then I tried to look up Lois Lowry's "Son" so I could link a post in Hidden Gems.  Nothing.  So, I opened another window and brought it up in amazon.  When I refresh the PBS page, it usually will then load the book I was looking for.  Nothing.  I put in each ISBN, and each time this really old paperback (Fawcett, remember them?  79 cents) comes up.  Here is the link.  A Dram of Poison.

Not really looking for explanations, nor venting because I'm not annoyed.  Just sharing some odd happenings on a Sunday morning.  Of course, probably by the time I post this the glich will be fixed, Son will come up when the link is clicked and folks will wonder what I've put in my morning coffee.

Hi Bonnie,  I'm reading this while sipping my coffee.  I have received many of those "have you received this DVD, CD? Please marked received"

The system automatically sends those out about a week after something was mailed.  It's friendly nuge or reminder in case you forgot.  If you have not received it there's no place to respond with "no I have not received it yet".  So...... You have to ignore the message and your not doing anything wrong.  So don't worry and enjoy your Sunday.  Other stuff might be site updates slowing things down.

But you know, Val, I've been here going on 10 years, and the only time I've received those messages are actually when I had received the book and forgotten to log it in.  No, I don't do that a lot.   But really, just yakking, not complaining!  Thanks for dropping in with your thoughts.

There are 5 different ISBNs for Son (Lois Lowry), on PBS, but not an audiobook.  Unfortunately, the ISBN-13: 9780449014462 was originally used for the Charlotte Armstrong book.  It has been listed on PBS for  a long time and no doubt has a swapping history, so it will remain as is.

It's unfortunate that publishers will re-use ISBNs, but it's certainly not uncommon.  In the world of new book sales it isn't a problem as the original title is no longer in print.  It does cause problems here since all listings are by ISBN.

They (publishers) also will use a single ISBN for all the books in small series  (especially children's boxed sets of books).
