The Coven (Sweep, Bk 2)
The Coven - Sweep, Bk 2
Author: Cate Tiernan
I am not who I thought I was. I am not a regular sixteen-year-old girl. I am a witch. A real, ancestral witch. My parents are not my biological parents. My sister and I share no blood. Even in the coven, I am too powerful now, too different to belong. I am alone except for Cal. Cal tells me he loves me, and I need to believe him.

The second book in the series is much darker than the first. Bree's hatred of Morgan (after all, Morgan "stole" her boyfriend) comes to a head and bad things happen. When a few of the girls, Bree included, quit the coven to start another, the danger really heats up.

I liked the escalation of Morgan's powers and Cal's love for her though I feel something isn't right with it. Somehow, his quick feelings, just don't ring true for me.

I was hoping for another quick read when I picked up Cate Tiernan's The Coven and besides being distracted with school, this was a perfect fit. After finding out that she is a Blood Witch, Morgan is thrust deeper into her Wicca studies and relationship with Cal (obligatory dreamy teenage boy). Unfortunately for Morgan, most of her other relationships are dying out as she becomes totally involved with her new life. She also discovers some new power. However, towards the end of the novel we begin to wonder if she can trust who she thought she could trust. There is a reason that this series has a lot of books in it, Tiernan loves to let the drama get thicker and thicker. It reads much like a teenage soap opera, but it is fun without a lot of heavy duty issues popping up. I recommend it to feed that guilty pleasure we have of watching teenagers dig themselves in further than they should go and wonder how to get out of the mess that they have created. Happy reading!

Wow. Awesome. That is all I can say about these books. I had them on my shelf for a while, and finally got around to reading them. I was so drawn into the way Morgan learns about herself, and the world of witchcraft and Wicca. The story and history of it is just amazing. I really love this series!
