I see people asking for credits in this forum quite often.

PBS has rules about asking for credits.

They must ONLY be asked for in the Book Bazaar and no other thread.

Just don't want anyone getting suspended because they didn't read the rules!

I am one who had my account suspended for a week -

I was very upset and had to beg for them to finally re-instate my account-- I had transactions pending and all

DO NOT ASK FOR CREDIT LOANS HERE

DO NOT ASK MORE THAN ONCE A MONTH !!

I've been here several years and didn't know this rule existed in RAOK. How is a member to know that this rule exists if there is no red sticky thread at the top of this forum. Having said that,

Cozy, where is the rule located?

It's stated in the I Wish thread.

Here, you list a few things you like/collect/can use. Obviously, we all like certain things like credits, wish-list books, etc. This is NOT for that kind of thing.

Elona - I think they expect someone to do some reading and looking (or asking someone in LH or the site) before posting and would hopefully find the rules in the Book Bazaar. Usually it is a polite pointing out of the rules on where to post. Keeping it confined to one Forum keeps someone from gathering credits all over the site. (yes, there have been bad members just looking to pile up free credits, people should remember it is a free site when they are loaning and gifting credits to people).

Kim, I think it has a lot to do with timing. If a post is old or someone has already gotten the credits, the post may not get addressed. Sometimes the member is PMed so it isn't shown in the thread that someone pointed out the rule. The site's admin doesn't spend a lot of time in the Forums so unless a member points out a thread to them, they don't come in to clean them up very often.

From the Book Bazaar:

NOTE: asking for credit GIFTS is strictly prohibited.  Asking for LOANS must be confined to Book Bazaar and follow the rules below:

  • The original post in the topic should specify clearly (1) how many credits are needed (maximum 4) and (2) a timeframe to repay them.
  • Any members who lend credits in response to these threads must post in the topic that they have given credits, and how many.
  • When the member who asked for a loan has gotten the credits she needs, she must edit the topic title and the original post to say "Thank you--no more replies needed!" .
  • No member should post a topic asking to borrow credits more than once per month, and can do this a maximum of 2 months in a row. So it is okay to ask in January and again in February, but that same member cannot ask again until April.
  • No member may ask for credit loans before having paid back all previous loans.
  • Anyone giving credits to a member in response to this kind of topic who expects repayment should send a PM saying "I have lent you [x number of] credits - pay me back when you can" (or state a timeframe in your message).
  • Anyone giving credits to a member in response to this kind of topic who does NOT expect repayment should include in her PM "I have sent you [x number of credits] - no need to repay".
  • These credit loan topics may not appear anywhere but Book Bazaar. The original poster may bump the topic if she needs to onlyonce - not once per day, but once ever.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse-

I learned this the hard way !

If you don't know about a rule and you break it--- too bad for you !

I turned a few of them in the other day but nothing appears to be have done. I know they have more important things to do. I also asked that someone post an official message.

When others give credits to those that ask in this forum it just encourages the behavior.
