I have tons of DVDs I would like to get rid of. I don't have lots of popular books people are snapping up off my bookshelf.

If I post DVDs on SwapADVD can I transfer the credits over to PBS to get books with them? I enjoy reading much more than watching movies!

Thanks in advance.

Chris-

Yep, they transfer.  I'm going to cheat and cut and paste from help center...

This must be done from your SwapaCD or SwapaDVD account.

  • The Transfer credits link is currently on the upper right of your SwapaCD or SwapaDVD My Account main page.

  • The initial (startup) credits cannot be transferred; so you will need to have used them in the account you are wanting to transfer from, in order to be able to transfer any credits from that account.

    • The startup credits are intended to get members started swapping on that site, and are not intended to be generated and then transferred for use on the other sites.
  • If you have any questions about this function, please direct them to the feedback area on SwapaCD.com or SwapaDVD.com.

Note that PBS credits will be transferred 1:1 to SwapaCD (1 PBS credit = 1 SwapaCD credit),  while PBS credits will be transferred 3:2 to SwapaDVD (3 PBS credits = 2 SwapaDVD credits, and vice versa).

When the rules say startup credits, does that mean the free credits that PBS gives? Or is that the 10 DVDs needed when opening an account? I only have TWO DVDs to trade and probably will never have enough for 10 DVDs, unless I wait five Christmases.. I would like to swap them for 3 Paperback credits once I trade the DVDs. I don't want them stuck in limbo forever because I never get enough DVDs to trade.  I'd rather list them in the Book bazaar or trade them directly with my PBS friends than have them stuck in limbo. :(

I started on SwapaDVD by posting 5 DVDs. All of them were requested and I was able to transfer my credits to here. I didn't get a start up credit because I didn't have enough DVDs to get one.

If you have a TV series (or there is more than one disc in the movie (like it's a directors cut or has an extra DVD with it), you get a credit for each DVD.

I'm really excited to hear people talking about posting on SwapaDVD, while PBS is my fave, I really wish more folks would join the DVD site, many of my WLs move verrry slowly, there just isn't that critical mass of members like there is here.

Chris is going to do very well, you'll get 3 PBS credits for every 2 DVD credits!

I transfer credits all the time. It's so GREAT that they allow us to do that. Have a ton of PBS credits but not as many dvd ones, so it's a great option when my WL dvd's come up. I LOVE IT!
