On the front cover it says "almost impossible to put down". I disagree with the 'almost'. I could not put it down, period. I read it in one night. I've read and enjoyed a lot of the Spenser books but this one snared me in.

Someone is murdering black women, leaving semen on their bodies and leaving a red rose . The police think they have the guy.
But then someone leaves a red rose in Susan's office and Spencer knows that the Red Rose Killer is still at large.
Now it's up to Spencer , Hawk, Quirk and Belson to protect Susan, find the killer and prove the police dept. have the wrong guy.
A very entertaining read with Spencer at his wisecracking and Sherlockian best !

Parker's Spenser books are kind of like buttered popcorn -- there may not be a lot of nourishment in them, but they are sure fun. In this quick read, the search for a serial killer leads disturbingly to Susan Silverman, and it's Spenser to the rescue once again.
