Penman does a wonderful job (in all her books) of re-creating the time period and drawing the reader in. I didn't care for this one as much as her epics, but consider that I love and adore her epics and don't take this criticism too harshly. Good beach read.
Once again, Sharron Kay Penman delivers a beautiful combination of adventure and mystery. Intelligent and descriptive, the Justin De Quincy trilogy makes you feel as if you, the reader, are there in medieval England. What is even more impressive to me, is that the third book is just as good as the first one. Satisfying and well worth the read.
Sharon Kay Penman is not to be missed! Whether it is her grand medieval historical fiction or her Justin de Quincy mysteries set in the same time period.
This book is the 2nd in the Justin series. Justin is set on Queen Eleanor's business tracking down her scheming son John & trying to solve the mystery of the death of a lowly peddlar's daughter.
