I wanted the latest book by Harlan Coben. I was surprised that it was printed by two different companies. Didn't know they would do that to a brand new book. Dutton printed it in March of 2009, Orion printed it in April of 2009. So I put both on my wish list with the intention of deleting one after whichever arrives first. On one I have dropped from 269 down to 127, On the other I have dropped from 124 to 95 ( and yes, there was a large drop 2 days ago) I am just curious as why one, after estimate, gives a full report of how many were sent last week and long I will approximately have to wait. While the other always says: "N/A". why does one work and the other doesn't? |

The drop probably happened because PBS purged out a lot of inactive accounts or put them on hold. (At least that is what many of us are speculating has happened--there's been no word from PBS on that yet.) It could be that one publisher is foreign, either Canadian or maybe British or Australian, and those books get posted here MUCH less frequently. You can have dozens of people wishing for a book that has never once been posted. The one with the 'last posted date' is likely the American version that is much more readily available here and posted more often. Cheryl Last Edited on: 6/10/09 9:16 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have found no rhyme or reason to the "estimate" for wish list items. Sometimes it shows up when there have been copies posted in the past week, sometimes it doesn't. When it does appear, it looks like it just takes 'wishes granted last week' divided by you position on the wait list, so there really isn't much value to it.

The expanded wishlist info (like how many were in the system last week and estimated wait) is a new feature. Appears there is still room for improvement :-) Last Edited on: 6/10/09 12:51 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

FYI, Orion is a British publishing firm which is why it is published by two different publishers. That wishlist will most likely move much slower. |
