I am late in coming to this one (it was first published in 2003) but this book blew me away. When my friend handed it to me I didn't think that I would like it. Thumbing through it and seeing all that math made my head hurt. I am SO glad I read it and I've recommended it to everyone I know. It is an amazing perspective on how different people view the world. If you have already read it, what did you think?

I listened to it as an audio book about a year and a half ago.  I loved it.  It made me laugh and it made me cry  - sometimes at the same time.

It really helped me see the side of the autistic children that I've taught (only a very few and none very severe) in a regular classroom.

It really helped to illustrate the thought process of autistics, although I'm sure they are widely varied. I think everyone would be well-served by having read it.

I really liked the method of telling the story from the autistic's point of view.  I thought it was a great twist on the unreliable narrator.

This book came into our home when my daughter had to read it for her Advanced English Comp class.  Of course I read anything that isn't nailed down, so I read it too.  I LOVED it.  Could give you some new ideas on what might be going on inside a person's mind that never actually comes out in their interactions with others.  I'm not sure that made sense.  Anyway, it's a good book.

(When my daughter thought that her copy had been loaned out to one of my friends & never returned, she became quite upset.  Luckily I was able to replace it by buying another copy at Good Will, only to discover her copy was under her bed the whole time.  So... someone here at PBS was the lucky winner of the extra copy.  I mailed it out the other day.  Kids!!)

This was one that I read because of all of the hype.  I tried to love it, but just couldn't.

I enjoyed this. I listened to it for a book club a few years ago.

Everyone in our group enjoyed it.

I have to agree with Renee. I tried to love it, but i was not the least interested and I just couldn't get into it. Oh well, not every book is for every reader.
