The book contains a large number of pictures of individual Cushman Colonial Creations reproduced from illustrations in vintage Cushman catalogues. The book also contains a significant amount of raw data including model numbers, group names, dimensions, years produced, and finish types. A large percentage of all the Cushman Colonial Creations produced are covered to some extent in the book. The book concentrates on the furniture itself. The history of the H. T. Cushman Manufacturing Company and the designer of the Colonial Creations line are presented briefly. The superior manufacturing methods used to construct and finish the pieces are also described. In addition, the unique style of Cushman Colonial Creations is explained and illustrated. The book concentrates on the Colonial Creations furniture line produced by the H. T. Cushman Manufacturing Co. Cushman is recognized for this line of furniture. The Colonial Creations line was the company's most popular, and it was vital in the financial history of the company. Cushman manufactured other styles of furniture before and after the Colonial Creations line. However, this furniture is not within the scope of this book. A large Database is also provided with the text. The Database contains quantitative information on over 1,000 different Cushman Colonial Creations. It was compiled using over twenty years worth of original Cushman furniture catalogues and price lists. CONTRIBUTORS: The book includes contributions from Townsend Wellington and Chris Kennedy. Townsend Wellington is one of H. T. Cushman's grandsons. He worked for the H. T. Cushman Manufacturing Company for over thirty years serving as the V. P. of Sales for a number of years. Chris Kennedy is an avid collector and leading authority on 20th century modern furniture. He maintains the shop American Decorative Arts in Northampton, Massachusetts.
