Mailed a book out last month with DC through PBS. Details show that book was delivered on 8/1 to other member, yet he still has not clicked on "BOOK HAS BEEN RECEIVED" button. I have a feeling he is really new or doesn't come over to this site very often...I have PM'd him to ask him to click the button at his end....still no reply. I know there is a chance (1 out of 100 maybe?) that he did not receive book but chances are it did arrive safely. Now what do I do if he doesn't click received by the date listed at the bottom of order?? Will I get to keep my credit since I already received it when DC went through the Post Office??

Yes, you get to keep your instant credit. It is vacation season, so it's possible that he's just away from home. |

"Delivered" means it was scanned for the last time at the destination PO. It doesn't necessarily mean that the book was actually "delivered" to the destination residence, though. Sometimes they let the media mail pile up a little before they bring it to the actual addresses. eta: at least I think that's how it goes. Last Edited on: 8/8/08 4:26 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have a book that i am waiting on. When i click on the map so i can view where the book IS, it shows it as being HERE. But i don't have it yet. I hope it comes tomorrow! He's probably on vacation. BUT i had one person i mailed a book to 'forget' to mark it received for over a week once. She PM'd me with an apology. So it happens. |

I am pretty sure when it says 'Delivered' that means it has been delivered to home address. If it says "Arrival at Unit" now that means it was scanned at the last postoffice before being delivered. I have kept track of when books come to me with DC and usually if it says delivered then all I have to do is walk out to my mailbox and there it is. thanks for the help. I hope he sees the message soon. Justine |

Tracy, you might copy and paste your DC # into the USPS.com websites tracker. For some reason PBS is not always accurate on where the book is. |

I am pretty sure when it says 'Delivered' that means it has been delivered to home address. Not always. Mine can show 'delivered' when it's not been delivered to my house yet. I think that sometimes they scan it as delivered when it gets to the last PO before delivery, and then loaded on the truck. A DC 'delivered' packon marked on Friday may not actually make it to me until Monday or later. Not all of them scan when they leave it at the door. If they're even leaving it at the right door! I do get other people's packages mixed in with my books on a rare accation. Usually from down the street.

It is very true that it being marked "delivered" does not mean that it was delivered at the recipients house. I have had cases where a book was marked delivered 5-10 days before it actually made it to my house. There is also the chance that it could have actually been delivered but not to the correct house....but, since you used PBS DC you really don't have to worry about it as you won't be our the credit. |

In the cases where the package is scanned delivered (as opposed to "arrival at unit") before actual delivery, I wonder if the correct procedure (or, at least, an accepted procedure) is being followed. I am attempting to research this and will report my findings :) |

Per the Help Center: If you sent the book with Delivery Confirmation and it has been recorded as delivered by USPS but hasn't been marked received yet:
