Books that have been written in are not considered "postable" -- please don't do this. Besides, marking out a swear word only makes you think about that word so much more. Better to just ignore it.

Books that are not postable can be offered in the Book Bazaar as long as the condition is described and when there is a swap agreed upon the book is not posted into the system but the credits are sent via the Give Credit button and the address is PMed. 

As far are writing in a book is concerned. They can be posted into the system as long as the Text Book clause is followed (See the Help Center for specifics). A book does not have to be the classic definition of a text book to be sent under that clause.

Yes, you can ask for a credit for the book. The same PBS credit "pricing" rules applies. But being able to describe the condition in the Bazaar allows the receiver to know ahead of time what they are getting for their credit so it is allowed as long as the unpostable books are never posted into the system.
