This honestly wasn't a page turner for me as far as true crime books. I was surprised with all the great reviews, but I didn't find it that exciting. However, I feel like I learned a lot about the law system, and I have never been so angered at how little the law does to protect battered women from their spouses... this will enrage you!

John Battaglia Jr's unpunished stalking and physical abuses of his ex-wives is a ringing indictment of a judicial system that winks at the Good Ole Boy Defendant and says: Now don't do that again, OK? A system that didn't quite get around to revoking John's slap-on-the-wrist probation until after he had murdered his two young daughters, with whom he had court-ordered unsupervised visitation, at point-blank range, with their momma on the phone to them as they screamed: "No, Daddy, Don't!"

Omg this true crime account literally made me cry. How could a man do something like this to his own children , as an act of revenge on his soon to be x wife? Not for the tender hearted. But a very good true crime account.

A heart breaking tale of how the law failed to protect and such a loss. A great read that doesn't drag on and explains how to not let the law fail you and keep your own safe.

Unblievable what a father would do as an act of revenge against his ex wife.

This was a well written true crime story. The author did a good job of describing how John Battaglia eased his way into becoming a wife abuser. He terrorized and stalked his first wife, herself a lawyer without any legal protection. He then abused his second wife, who eventually kicked him out but he still had unsupervised visits with his two young daughters because he had not directly abused them. He couldn't stand the thought of his wife 'winning' so he shot the two girls while their mom listened on the phone.
The book is an easy read that does not dwell on unecessary courtroom information. The emphasis is on how his abusive nature increased over the years until he committed the ultimate act of evil.
This case directly changed the laws in Texas so that non-custodial parents with a history of assualt/abuse may not have unsupervised visits with their children.

NO DADDY DON'T: A FATHER'S MURDEROUS ACT OF REVENGE tells of one of the most heinous crimes I've ever read about. How a father could cold-bloodedly kill his own two daughters is beyond imagination. The horror and abuse he subjected his wives (later ex-wives) to and then to get away with his acts in the courts makes a person wonder about the judicial system that would turn a monster like John Battaglia loose on an unsuspecting community. This book by Irene Pence is very well written and documents the lives of those involved in the story and the one case that John Battaglia was finally held accountable for. Once I started reading this book, I found it very hard to put down!

WOW. All I can say is that people are unbelievable. An enjoyable book for those who love true-crime reads.
Very touching book. Being a parent it was a heartbreaking book to read. Very well written but a scary situation for anyone to be in.

This true story broke my heart and scared the hell out of me. It's very simply written and fast paced, I couldn't put it down once I picked it up, from the first page it gripped me.
After finishing last night I decided to check out to see when he was put to death for this horrific crime (which he committed in 2001 and was sentenced to death for in 2002) and guess what folks? 10 years later and he hasn't been! This POS is still alive, still breathing and actually is posting on an internet site with some crazy conspiracy theory and bizarre claims that none of this was his fault, he expresses no remorse and assumes no guilt for the heinous crime of murdering two of his daughters. And the state of Texas, yes Texas, notorious for death row executions is allowing this. Where is the justice for those two poor little girls, their mother and their family? I am totally in shock.
I checked a bit further, just google his name, there's plenty. He has his own page on the deathrow usa website...WTH?? Another site, Pysih.com (People You'll See in Hell) actually has a post on there from the girls mother, Mary Jean Pearle, in which she asks others not to buy or read this book, she says it was written against her wishes and no one who knew her or the girls would contribute to it. She says the author made money off of this case, off her misfortune and pain. I know that is probably true but yet without this story being told, without women being warned off the traits monsters such as John displayed, how can we justify it not being told? If it saves just one woman her pain, one child their death, then this book is worth reading. Due to this case, many advances have been made in the way law enforcement, courts and judges look at and decide to handle cases where there is spousal abuse.
This is just a sad, sad, heartbreaking story and one I will never forget. I am single, and I intend to stay single after reading this. In fact, I doubt I ever date again. Too scary a prospect when someone who looks and acts as this man did in the beginning, just to gain trust and then shattered it all. I'm too scared to trust any man now.
