I had a book on my WL for my dad. Was finally offered the book and had it sent to him. Had all the correct info and the sender even sent me her USPS DC info.  Since he hadn't received it yet, I check on the postal site and it's on Martha's Vineyard, about 100 miles from where my dad lives!  The info states it was delivered in W. Tisbury, notice left, then it says missent, then it says Forwarded to W. Tisbury, MA  all in a space of 5 mins!  I'm hoping someone notices it's wrong and sends it on!!   My dad has been salivating for this book for months and I finally had to tell him that even though I know where it is, it's going to be lost pretty soon!

I'm so sorry!  That is so aggravating when that kind of thing happens.  This time last year I bought a set of used books from an online auction site.  I planned to give them to my sister as a Christmas present and they got lost in the mail.  So I had to come up with an alternate gift.

I keep thinking "Someone, somewhere has those books!" :)

I hope your dad's book shows up soon!

Maybe he could go visit it?

All joking aside, I'm sorry, that is frustrating.

It sounds to me like it was scanned in W Tisbury and the person scanning the package noticed that it was missent right as the notice was being written up, scanned again to mark it missent, then forwarded it back to the W Tisbury post offce to be sent to the correct address.

Or at least that's how I was able to connect the dots and still have the book going to your Dad.

Let us know what happened!  I am feeling like Nancy Drew....and the Case of the Missent Mail.

I had a WL book sent to my stepmom in CA. The book got scanned in the next county over, then went to Texas on its way to her house. The good news in my case is that it got there fine and I probably never would have known about the crazy route it took except for DC.

My dad got his book today!  He was thrilled he finally got it, and said he'd have taken a vacation on the Vineyard in place of his book any day!  Thanks for the good thoughts, he's getting settled in with his book as we speak :)  Ange, he is retired from the PO and said your scenario is probably exactly what happened :)
