Dad Johnson works to shore up the Johnson family defenses, going so far as to install a nuclear reactor in his garage for ultimate self sufficiency. Son P.J., genetically programmed to become gay in order to balance out the family unit, takes exception to his father's prenatal tampering and scales the neighborhood walls for visits beyond. Pre-adolescent daughter Nancy June reacts to the pill-induced maturation by conspiring with the boy next door to build a terrorist bomb. Wife Connie, annoyed by her husband's paranoia, enters an affair that has the effect of touching off a neighborhood powderkeg. Dad wonders if things finally haven't gotten out of hand.
