This is the first of McCaffrey's Tower and Hive series and is highly recomended. In this series space travel is made possible by Talents, people who can teleport objects over long distances. This series is a sister series to the Pegasus series but happens much further in the future.

This one was a lot better than The Rowan. The story flowed a little more smoothly. But it was was drawn out. I think the thing that bugs me about McCaffrey's style in this series, is the older man and the way to young woman falls in love theme. It wasn't a bad story, but it wasn't great either. I was surprised that she accually killed off a minor character in the book. Anywhoo, this story is definitly into the old fashion romance and courting. It didn't bring any aliens in until close to the end, then it was "when you fall off a horse, you need to get back on" theme.
