Probably the best story of hers I read. I absolutely loved the rapid fire bantering of the characters.

For years Heather had dreamed of a journey to England to see the garden of Troytan House. The owner denies her request, so she climbs a wall and goes in anyway. She's shocked to see part of the famous garden overgrown and the owner seems to like her a little too much.

Another wonderful book by Barbara Michaels with a little of the supernatural in it.

evil lurking in the secret manor haunting tale...
reviewed The Dancing Floor on
In the heart of the English countryside lies an ancient secret. For years Heather Tradescant had dreamed of the journey she and her father would take to England- a pilgrimage to the great gardens of history. Now that her father is dead, Heather is determined to fufill his dreams. Unfortunately, her request to see the fabeled seventeenth century garden of Troyton House is denied by the owner. Though unwelcome, she braves the wall of briars and reaches the Victorian manor house beyond. She senses a strange miasma of evil, lurking, tainting the manor's peaceful beauty. Only then does Heather begin to wonder whether it is only stories of long-vanished witchcraft that haunt Troyton House, or weather there is some more modern horror, nearer at hand, and far more dangerous.

Charming rom-com story about a self-confident young woman, who is interested in old British gardens. On her list is one on an old estate, but she is refused entry. She finds a hidden entrance through a wild, overgrown thicket, though, and after being discovered, charms her way into the hearts and minds of several men.

This is, initially, a story about witchcraft (in the historical sense) and old secrets, but the tension is not obvious until the last part of the book.

Very nicely written, good characterizations, and a heroine who likes sweets!

It's light entertainment, but perfectly ok, not a bodice-ripper (thank God), but a nice story with a little adventure thrown in.
