I really enjoyed this book. It can be very dark, but a great story. I first read this book several years ago and decided to re-read it. I never re-read books, but I am glad I did so with this one.

A potent love story a dark spychological thriller, an opulent family drama set amid the sensual abandon of Edwardian England- Dark angel is all of these and at its center is Constance, whose every loving impulase turns to destruction.

Young Constance Shawcross finds her life inextricably linked to that of the wealthy Cavendish family, but her doubts about that clan cause her to later give her goddaughter the diaries that may remove the Cavendish family's veneer.

Super book. Reviewer at Amazon.com writes: It's got all the de rigeur elements to make it nearly perfect: well written, well paced narrative, sympathetic characters, love, suspense, drama, sex, adventure, war, death, real live shock value without too much gore, and a protagonist (or rather, antagonist) heroine so perfectly drawn as a charmingly confused schizoid that you either know or are someone like her.

It's amazing that it all ties together and doesn't overwhelm the reader. I was especially impressed that the book is in no way formulaic and that the ending is not predictable at all, and only seems to have a forgone conclusion, but not solution, in hindsight - reflecting upon all the various elements and characters.

Excellent pre-world War 1 English family saga. Constance and her father enter this family as friends. The turmoil they cause bring family tensions and heartache that echo down through the years. Read it, you will love it.
