I don't read very many romance novels. In fact, that is the last area of the bookstore that I would look for a book that is such a keeper. This book earned permanent keeper status on my shelf.

This book is maybe 30% romance and 70% totally excellent fantasy. It involves evil faeries and a battle to save the earth from those in the faery realm that would seek to take over earth.

This book was very well written, had great pacing, and came to a satisfying conclusion. I highly recommend this book!

Lauren Vale has death visions and Jack Hallihan hears voices. It seems that Lauren's gift quiets Jack's...so what a perfect relationship, if they can learn to trust each other. Baleris, a dark elf (read evil), has come through the gate for the key and once he returns to fairie, he will release hell on earth. Jack and Lauren have to use their gifts together in order to stop Baleris.

This book is action filled from the first page. I enjoyed the romance as well as the mystery. My first book by this author but definitely not my last.

Another person's review piqued my interest in the book. I enjoy fantasies and mysteries but not romances. This book was surprisingly good with its fantasy. Okay, I admit I skipped or skimmed the love scenes but the other 85% of the book was well worth reading.

This is the debut book of Pamela Palmer. Ancient evil has returned to our world and the only ones that can stop it don't know that it exists. Enter Larsen, who sees things and the detective, Jack, who hears voices in his head. How are they to save the world?

An ancient evil has found it's way back into our world...

And the only ones who can stop it don't know it exists...

Larsen Vale has a secret: she sees things. Terrible things. Deadly things. And her latest vision features a strange albino man--and her own death. Haunted and afraid, she trusts no one, not even the handsome cop who seems fascinated with her.

Washington DC. Detective Jack Hallihan has one mission: find the man who is assaulting young women. But the police have no clues, no leads and no witnesses. And Jack has a deadly secret of his own-- one that Larsen holds the key to.

Time is running out. If Larsen and Jack can't learn to trust their attraction to each other--the Gate will be opened and the world forever changed!

He hears strange voices in his head.

She sees things no human was ever meant to witness.

Together they have the power to save us all.

But will they realize their destiny... before time runs out?

The only reason I picked this book up was because the author had apparently ended her other series, The Ferals. I loved that series and was hoping the Esri series would be good too, but I really had my doubts. I was pleasantly wrong. The Dark Gate was very good and I ordered the second one before I finished the first. Two thumbs up.
