I'd read several of Sherrilyn Kenyon books but got burned out and stopped awhile back. In re-sorting my overflowing boxes of TBR, I came across them recently and started up again. So this weekend I'm having a Dark-Hunter/Dream Hunter reading binge.

Who is your favorite character?

I like some of the DH and their mates more than others, but I think hands-down, my favorite is Simi (Acheron's childlike demon who serves a daughter figure). I just love every scene she's in and find myself re-reading those.

Was there one book where they were in Las Vegas in a Casino hotel and Simi (and maybe her sister) were brought in to help with a demon problem? I'm remembering a scene like that but don't recall if it was a DH book.

As far as the series, I find the reading order frustrating. I've looked at Kenyon's site, wikipedia, and PBS. The information seems to vary. I'd hope Kenyon's list was accurate, so that's what I'm following.

Who's your favorite character? And what's your favorite book as far as Simi as a character?

P.S. Is there an easy index of the books that includes their main characters (without having to click into the book synopsis).  I want something like:

Seize the Night (2005) - Valerius Magnus and Tabitha Devereaux

Kenyon has a book list on her web.  It is accurate!  I really liked her earlier books and got bored somewhere around somewhere in the middle of the series.  Then I started reading again when "One Silent Night" came out.  Really thought she was back on track.  It is so easy to get bored with the story lines if the author gets too monotonous.

My favorite:  I have many!  Loved Kyrian, Valerian, Vane, Dante!!!!!  Can't wait for Fang's story to come out next month.

Didn't like "Acheron" and felt his woman was just not good enough for him.  Have been bummed out about him ever since.

Simi is ok, but I don't like her sister.  Don't know why-------------------just a quirk of mine.  Got mad a Simi when she was stupid enough (come on she is centuries old) to sleep with Nick and ruin his life!  Of course Nick was a real man-whore!

The series looks like it may be picking up again, so I am getting excited to see what is happening!

I read Dance with the Devil (Zarrek) Thursday and then Seize the Night (Valerius).  I really liked Zarrek in his own story. Thought he was pretty much a jerk in Sieze the Night.  But I liked Astrid's intervention towards the end.

Valerius was a tough one for me to like, but Tabitha is so "out there" it made for a nice contrast.  The byplay between the two and him loosening up was pretty good.

I just finished Sins of the Night (Danger and Alexion) late last night.  Wasn't all that crazy about her, but I really liked Alexion's character.

This afternoon, I'm reading Dark Side of the Moon  (Ravyn & Susan), but we're going to a movie at 4:00. Luckily it looks like a quick read. I hope Simi has some nice scenes in this one.

Was able to finish Dark Side of the Moon before the movie.  Okay, definitely not great. And NO Simi at all!  : > (   There was a mention of her but she didn't put in a single appearance.

I'm remembering why I burnt out on Kenyon. I was thinking of reading Archeron tomorrow, but not sure now.

I'm still very interested in everyone's take on favorite characters. (And Marion, sounds like there's a story behind  your preference for Simi. What's about your big sis? You have me curious now.)

I didn't like "Dark Side of the Moon" either.  Actually I didn't even finish it!  Like I said earlier----------------there is a period that I didn't like her books and I just traded them off before I even read some of them.  I would start them and couldn't really get into them, so I got rid of them.  Maybe one day I will try to read them again, but I doubt it.  Of course I still kept trying until my interest was caught again.  I quit buying all her BAD series.  They were no interest to me at all.  I tried to read but couldn't.  If I see one to trade or a new one coming out, I will put on my  WL, but will not buy.  I just bought "HUNTRESS"  anthology.  I hope it's good.  I hate to spend $$$ on a book and not be able to read it!

Fang's story will be out soon!!  Can't wait!!  Also can't wait for the Magna Books----------------hope they are good.  I have been collecting Patricia Briggs comic books (which will be "Homecoming") and really like them.

DSOTM is probably my lease favorite of the dark hunter books.  I love Simi of course, but Acheron is my man! *drool*

The casino one you're thinking of is (I think) Devil May Cry with Sin and Kat.  I'm not thrilled with Acheron's woman either but I still love his book although parts of it are hard to read.

I also love Vane and his book is one of my favorites.

Subject: Jo, I hope this helps :)

This was from a spreadsheet.  I didn't realize it would run together. :)

It's the book, author, characters.  It keeps them straight for me.

Vane and Bride have been my very favorite so far.  Can't wait for Fang and Aimee's story:)

Love Simi--still love Nick--everybody is stupid sometime:)

I plowed through Acheron's story and really don't get his match at all--sort of a letdown after all the darkness you had to get through in that bohemouth of a book!

Zarek and Astrid (Dance with the Devil)

Wren and Marguarite (Unleash the Night)

Vane and Wren are probably my favorites of hers.  I'm also intrigued by Jaden and I can't wait for Fang's story.  I loved Fury, and I was horribly disappointed by his novella.  All in all, I prefer her were hunters excpet for the blip of DSOTM.  The conflict of that was so easy to solve that that one should have been a novella, and Fury should have had his own book.  I also really disliked much of Devil May Cry, even though I like the two main characters

Vane Kattalakis & Bride McTierney  - Talon & Sunshine  These were my two fave couples. I also can't wait for Fang's story. I thought Acheron was kind of a let down. Maybe my expectations for his book were just too high.

I so agree that Fury should have had his own book!

I think the problem with Ash's woman is that she should have been a little more Alpha.  Know what I mean?  She was too wimpy and I felt he needed someone who could be stronger.

I haven't been able to get into any of the Dream Hunters either...not one of their stories has grabbed me.

I think you're dead on about expecting Acheron's woman to be stronger/more alpha.  It's like he hooked up with Fred from Angel--I'm just a bit underwhelmed.   Also after all the deep drama of his early life I expected him to really have to fight for this relationship and I don't recall that.

I loved Ash, he's the reason I kept reading the books but I too was so disapointed in Tory she was just not what I figured he would end up with and the book was really great  with the details of his life but then I don't  know it was like someone else wrote the other half of the story or something.

I am looking forward to the newest book I hope it's not a let down.
